Microsoft Retail Store Honors Goodwill

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Microsoft Retail Store at Ala Moana Center Honors
Goodwill Industries of Hawaii

Honolulu, HI (June 14, 2013) – In celebration of the Microsoft retail store’s Grand Opening at Ala Moana Center, Microsoft presented a donation of $500,000.00 in software to Goodwill Industries of Hawaii at the store’s ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 13, 2013.

In the evening, attendees of the grand opening concert featuring Macklemore with Ryan Lewis and Neon Trees, were able to visit the Goodwill truck on site and learn about Goodwill’s Dell Reconnect Program. Goodwill staff passed out Dell Reconnect visors, hats and flyers. Last year, Goodwill kept over 12 million pounds out of Hawaii’s landfills through its donation and recycling programs.

The Dell Reconnect program offers our community the opportunity to responsibly recycle unwanted computers and computer equipment of any brand and condition – FREE OF CHARGE. E-waste is a growing concern for our environment, and the Dell Reconnect program provides a great solution and system. The goal of the program is to keep used computers and computer equipment from Hawaii’s landfills and to educate the community on the importance of proper computer recycling.

Goodwill Industries of Hawaii’s mission is to help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient, and the donations received from Microsoft will help support its educational, employment and training programs to provide skills training, employment counseling, job placement and support services.

The Microsoft retail store offers a curated assortment of products to fit anyone’s needs and budgets, including Windows 8 PCs and tablets including Surface, Microsoft Office 365, Windows Phone, Xbox 360 and a variety of software and accessories. The stores provide consumers with excellent value, selection, service and an engaging way to experience the best of Microsoft products. Customers can also learn new technology skills in the store’s theater space, and work with the store’s friendly experts for personalized PC setup and training.
