Honolulu, Hawaii (October 1, 2013) — Goodwill Industries of Hawaii extends a special “thank you” to the community, title sponsor, and many business sponsors for once again supporting their second annual public awareness event – Bank of Hawaii presents Goodwill Goes GLAM! The goal of this special event week was to highlight Goodwill Industries of Hawaii’s community impact and non-profit mission: to help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient.

The event week activities began with the Goodwill GALA & VIP Pre-Sale which included a private sponsor dinner, reception and fashion show highlighting local talent on September 19, 2013 and continued with the Goodwill GLAM! Sale! that was open to the public from September 20-22, 2013.

Over 100 people were lined up before the 10 am opening of the Goodwill GLAM! Sale, which included more than 40,000 items on over 20,000 square feet of retail space at the Blaisdell Exhibition HallThe sale demonstrated how Goodwill provides value to shoppers as a resource for name brands, luxury items and unique vintage finds at affordable prices.

The event succeeded in raising over $230,000, attracting nearly 3,000 event-week participants and procuring more than 300 volunteers.

Laura Smith, CEO/President shared: “We are very happy for the community’s support of our second annual public awareness event. We are also thankful for our supporters and employees who once again helped make this event come to life. Proceeds generated from this event go towards supporting Goodwill’s mission of providing job readiness and job placement programs.”
