Honolulu, Hawaii – From sweet fairies and super heros to frightful villains, Goodwill Hawaii has everything you need to create the Halloween costume of your wildest dreams for less. New this year, Halloween revelers can get help putting together an amazing costume at Goodwill Hawaii’s Monster Styling Event on October 22 and 23. During the two-day event, the public can visit the Kaimuki, Beretania and Pearl City stores from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free Halloween costume styling assistance and tips from Goodwill’s volunteer team of fashion and retail experts known as the GLAM! Squad.
With thousands of unique donations received from the community each day, including clothing and accessories from different eras, imaginative props and more, Goodwill is a great place to shop for one-of-a-kind Halloween costumes for the entire family.
“Whether you have a costume in mind or you have no idea what to be for Halloween, Goodwill has you covered,” said Katy Chen, Goodwill Hawaii’s chief administrative officer. “Shopping at Goodwill is fun and good for the community at the same time. Every purchase you make at Goodwill helps fund job placement and training programs for local people seeking employment.”
Goodwill Hawaii assisted more than 11,000 people statewide with job training and placement programs last year. Support for the programs comes from revenue generated from Goodwill Hawaii stores and contracted services like Secure Document Destruction Services, Janitorial and Custodial Services, and more. In addition, Goodwill helps to keep 11 million pounds out of Hawaii’s landfills annually.
“Every purchase and donation creates the cycle that allows us to continue our work in the community,” said Chen. “We hope people will check out our stores to find the perfect costume and when Halloween is over they can donate back to us for someone else to create the perfect look next year.”
Goodwill also provides support programs for those with intellectual disabilities, at-risk youths, and employment core services for Immigrants and families in need through eleven program locations statewide.
