*Bank of Hawaii Foundation to be Presenting Sponsor of Goodwill Goes GLAM! for a Third Year

Honolulu, Hawaii (May 14, 2014) — Goodwill Industries of Hawaii announced that Bank of Hawaii Foundation will be the presenting sponsor for the third annual event of – Bank of Hawaii presents Goodwill Goes GLAM!   

The four-day event is scheduled to take place from July 17-20, 2014 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. The GALA &VIP Pre-Sale will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 followed by the public GLAM! Sale days from July 18-20, 2014.

Proceeds from Bank of Hawaii presents Goodwill Goes GLAM! are used to raise awareness for Goodwill’s nonprofit mission: to help people with employment barriers reach their full potential and become self-sufficient.  Laura Smith, President/CEO of Goodwill stated, “We are honored that Bank of Hawaii Foundation has chosen to be our presenting sponsor for the third year in a row. Bank of Hawaii’s consistent support of Goodwill demonstrates their commitment to raise awareness of our services to the community.”

Peter Ho, Bank of Hawaii chairman, president and CEO, shared, “We are enthusiastic about being the presenting sponsor of this event for the third consecutive year.  This unique event provides a fun outlet for bargain hunters in Hawaii, and their purchases in turn benefit programs that assist thousands of people annually. It’s a win-win situation, and I’m delighted that Bank of Hawaii is a part of it.”

Last year, over 100 people lined up to wait for the Goodwill GLAM! Sale- opening. The event succeeded in raising over $230,000, attracting nearly 3,000 event-week participants and procuring more than 300 volunteers. This year, more than 40,000 items on over 20,000 square feet of retail space will be on sale at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

In 2012-2013, Goodwill helped more than 13,000 people in Hawaii through its programs and services statewide and aided more than 1,600 people in finding employment.
