The Power of Work
Goodwill's strength lies in our ability to train people to meet real, identified labor needs in the community. We recognize the intrinsic value of work and understand the profound integrity that meaningful, tangible employment brings to our trainees' lives. More than bringing financial self-sufficiency, work taps the spirit of the individual, provides equal opportunity, and demands commitment and dedication - values that provide the foundation for community. Professional teaching staff with years of experience provide valuable insight and expertise and share rewards that are as deep for them as for the trainees.
People served by Goodwill are referred by a variety of sources. The largest referral sources are the state's Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), and Department of Health (DOH). Other referral sources include the Office of Community Services (OCS), Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Home and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii (HCDCH), Office of Youth Services(OYS), Department of Public Safety (DPS), private insurance companies, and other rehabilitation programs.
When employers hire Goodwill program graduates, they acquire skilled, reliable workers - and more. Goodwill's expertise in vocational training travels with the employee to the new job site. Follow-up services support both the new employee and the employer, helping to make the transition smooth for everyone.
