Information for Participants
Goodwill individualizes your training by helping you develop a plan to achieve your goals. Your goals may include:
Determining your work ability.
Training in a specific career field or gaining specific living skills.
Helping you identify and change attitudes or behaviors to increase your opportunities for successful employment.
Giving you the opportunity to intern or practice work skills prior to job placement.
Helping you increase your physical stamina for work.
Teaching you necessary or additional life skills to enhance your independence and self- determination.
Helping you improve your job seeking skills in preparation for employment.
A successful job search requires special skills that enable you to complete with and stand out from other qualified candidates. Our varied placement services programs teach innovative skills that will give you this advantage in the competitive community job market. Goodwill’s placement services conduct a job club to teach skills in:
Matching your qualifications to a company’s employment need.
Filling out an application and preparing a resume.
Learning how to present yourself to a prospective employer.
Becoming a stronger candidate through self-awareness and self-esteem building exercises.
Demonstrating a positive attitude and work behavior.
Learning job retention skills to strengthen and further your career track.
Program Funding Partners
People served by Goodwill learn about us and can be referred to us from a variety of our funding partners. The largest referral sources are the state's Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), and Department of Health (DOH). Other referral sources include the Office of Community Services (OCS), Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Home and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii (HCDCH), Office of Youth Services(OYS), Department of Public Safety (DPS), private insurance companies, and other rehabilitation programs.
To participate in Goodwill’s skills building, job training, and employment services programs, you may need to be referred by one of the agencies mentioned above and meet a specific program’s admission criteria. When you have become a participant, we will assist you in assessment, planning, and developing the tools you’ll need to attain your goals. These tools will increase your opportunities for success by enrolling you in an individualized program that may include placement services.
