Independence from Public Assistance

imageGoodwill works in partnership with community businesses to provide opportunities for individuals to become successfully employed and retain their jobs. Our program specialists work closely with participants to provide career development, training and job placement for individuals and families receiving public assistance. Participants develop vocational and social skills through a combination of occupational skills training, pre-employment training, job coaching, and practical work experience.

Job Readiness and Placement Services

Goodwill’s job readiness and placement service programs teach a variety of skills training, effective resume writing and interviewing techniques through individual and group training. Participants learn valuable job search techniques, and have access to a wide variety of resources and employment opportunities. Weekly job club sessions give participants a chance to practice their skills and further develop their abilities while preparing to enter the workforce.

Small Business Development

Create your dream job. Mālama Moe, one of Goodwill's newest programs, provides training to people interested in starting their own business. Topics include developing a business plan, enhancing financial and management skills, utilizing technology to grow your business, networking and how and where to find resources. Mālama Moe is available for entrepreneurs 18 years or older with income that is at or below 150% of the poverty guidelines.
