guy

The Kapolei Charter School by Goodwill Hawaii (KCS), opening July, will provide Leeward Oahu students in grades 9-12 with an alternative learning environment to assist them in earning a Board of Education high school diploma and preparing for long-term success and self-sufficiency.

Upon graduation, students will have also earned a post-secondary certification and/or community college credits to prepare them to enter the workforce and beyond.

Initially KCS will accept students entering the 9th grade. The curriculum will focus on three pillars to help them achieve successful outcomes.

Our model for success:

Secondary-Level Education

To ensure students obtain their high school diploma, KCS will:

Work with students to develop an educational program that meets each students’ individual needs

Conduct regular student testing to measure progress and post-secondary readiness

Post secondary education and career pathways

To prepare for a smooth transition into their post-secondary education or career, students will have the opportunity to:

Work towards ready-to-use industrial or educational certificates and associates degrees

Earn college dual-credits

Participate in career exploration programs

Coaching

Each student will be assigned a Life Coach to:

Help the student establish and follow a personalized educational plan that meets their individual needs and goals

Address any barriers that may impede the student’s continued success

Provide one-on-one support
