FUNDING SOURCES FOR HONOLULU CAREER CENTER RENOVATION: $9 MILLION COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN

PHASE 1:

Land and building purchase, preparation for renovations. Successfully completed.

PHASE 2:

Building renovation and expansion. Goodwill has already secured 48% of the costs. Construction will begin in 2018 with the center opening in 2019.

COMMUNITY NEEDS

THE NEED

Goodwill Hawaii’s current facility at 1075 S. Beretania Street is at maximum capacity, yet Honolulu’s projected 10.5% job growth rate, requires effective programs to prepare the workforce. The Honolulu Career and Learning Center supports individuals to complete education, attain higher paying jobs and transition to financial independence.

FEATURES OF THE NEW CENTER.

  • Offer skill building, training and job counseling
  • Support adults to pursue higher education, career development and advancement
  • Feature a state-of-the-art computer lab for learners and job seekers including multi-media equipped training rooms
  • Provide youth with academic support and vocational planning
  • Offer community meeting space
  • Deliver tax assistance and financial education to low income individuals and families
  • Retail Store and Donation Center, creating employment opportunities and generating funds for operating costs and sustainability
