*Goodwill Industries of Hawaii Completes Purchase of Beretania Location

Honolulu, HI  (October 6, 2014) —Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. has completed  the purchase of their Beretania location at 1075 South Beretania Street. Goodwill has been operating retail, donation and mission service programs at the location for 15 years.

“Our Beretania Retail location is very popular with customers and our drive through donation centers has provided customer convenience for many years,” said Laura Smith, President/CEO of Goodwill. “Purchasing this location will allow Goodwill to continue to provide our employment and training programs at this location on a permanent basis to make an even greater impact in the community.”

The purchase of the property will allow the local nonprofit to expand services and to increase and enhance career development and training programs.  Future renovations will allow Goodwill’s Mission Services programs to serve approximately 50% more people each year. In 2013, the Beretania location served over 3,200 individuals, and estimates that number will grow to 5,000 by 2018. The expansion will also allow Goodwill to create more employment opportunities within the organization.

Goodwill Industries of Hawaii’s mission is to help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient. Supported by its retail operations and financial endeavors, its educational, employment and training programs have provided skills training, employment counseling, job placement and support services since 1959.
