Shopping
Do Goodwill stores offer any discounts?
On Tuesdays, Goodwill offers a 20% Senior Discount* to customers 60 years of age or older. To qualify for the Senior Discount, please present a valid picture ID.
A 20% Military Discount* is offered to the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families everyday (on Sundays for the Hilo Store). Military personnel should present a valid military ID.
* Discount applies to regularly-priced items and cannot be combined with other discount programs.
Do your stores accept donations?
Yes. All of our
retail stores accept donations during business hours.
Where does the money go?
More than 90-cents of every dollar generated from the sale of donated items directly supports Goodwill’s mission of helping people find jobs to reach their full potential.
Donating
Can I include Goodwill in my will?
Yes. Goodwill accepts bequests, gifts of real estate or personal property or being named as a life insurance beneficiary. For more information on including Goodwill in your will, click

What happened to the donations Goodwill can’t use or sell?
Goodwill makes every effort to sell donated merchandise we receive at affordable prices in our retail stores. Merchandise that doesn’t sell in our stores is sent to the Goodwill Surplus Store, which offers “last stop” merchandise at low prices. Items that we cannot sell are processed through our recycling/salvage system. Goodwill’s resale efforts keep more than 6.1 million pounds of items out of our landfills every year.
Goodwill is the original recycler…saving the earth one donation at a time.
Will you pick up my donations?
Goodwill does not have a home pickup service. Check our
list of conveniently located donation centers to find a location near you.
Do I get a tax-deductible receipt for my donations?
Yes. Whenever you donate to Goodwill you will receive a receipt acknowledging the date that Goodwill received your donation.

Does Goodwill accept car or boat donation?
Goodwill partners with Kokua in Kind to receive car or boat donations. You can reach Kokua in Kind by calling (808) 834-6603. Please let them know you would like to designate the proceeds of your donation to Goodwill Industries of Hawaii.
How do I know if Goodwill cannot use something?
Some items cost more to transport, repair or refurbish than they can be sold for in our stores. Other items are not recyclable, contain hazardous materials or present potential liability issues. For these reasons, Goodwill cannot use the following types of items: any item recalled by the
Consumer Product Safety Commission, hazardous materials, auto parts (including tires), baby furniture and other baby-related items, beds and mattress, major appliances, firearms and weapons, and computers (including computer accessories). Click

What items can I donate?
In general, we accept items that are clean and in saleable condition. As a guideline, think of it as something you would give to a friend.
Some of the items Goodwill needs most include clothing, accessories, shoes and boots, kitchen and household items, linens, books, collectibles and small appliances and electronic equipment. There are exceptions regarding certain items. Click

What happens to my donations?
Donations to Goodwill are re-sold in our retail stores. Revenues from our stores fund our programs that help people with disadvantages find jobs and reach their full potential.
HI-5 Redemption
Do I have the option of choosing how my redemption is calculated?
If you have 200 containers or less, you may request the containers be counted instead of weighed as per the Department of Health guidelines. For a more information on weighing and counting options, please check the
Department of Health website.
What are your redemption center hours?
Goodwill redemption centers are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (except Hilo which is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Employment
Can I apply elsewhere other than online?
Yes. You can apply in person at any Goodwill store, or at the administrative offices on Oahu at 2610 Kilihau Street, in Mapunapuna.
Should I call HR to follow up on my application?
Only if you do not receive a confirmation email and want to make sure we’ve received your submission.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. You are welcome to reapply for the same position after 6 months from your original application. If you wish to apply, for a new or different position, you may apply immediately.
What is the turnaround time for my application, once submitted?
Candidates will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. If you are selected to proceed in the hiring process, you will hear back from an HR representative within 1-2 weeks.
Can I apply without stating which position I am interested in?
No. To be considered for employment, you must indicate specific position(s) of interest. Be sure to use the exact title of the position posted to avoid confusion.

How do I hire a Goodwill program graduate?

How much does it cost to enroll in one of Goodwill’s programs?

What types of mission services does Goodwill provide?
Goodwill provides employment training and job placement to people with a variety of disadvantages including individuals who are dependent on public assistance or are re-entering the workforce, people with severe disabilities, at-risk youth who have dropped out for school, individuals transitioning from the criminal justice system, Pacific Islander immigrants, and other people who need assistance in achieving their goals of successful employment. Other services include acculturation training for Pacific Islander immigrants, GED preparation for at-risk youth, and individualized skills training for people with disabilities.

What services does Goodwill offer for commercial businesses?
Our contract services include property management, secure document destruction, custodial services, streetscape maintenance, shipboard loading and supplying protective painter’s hoods and boot coverings.
